At Carter West we apply our progressive style and problem solving skills to improve our region through strategic philanthropic partnerships. We strategically select community partners based upon simple guidelines. We look for opportunities to make strong organizations stronger by developing fresh ideas for service delivery and fundraising, providing thousands of hours of man power per year, and leveraging our relationships. If you become a Carter West client, we will probably ask you to support our community with us.

Community Partners

The firm has partnered extensively with WEAVE, Inc., a remarkable organization providing essential services to domestic violence and sexual assault victims in Sacramento for over 30 years. The firm chose WEAVE because of its brilliant leadership, creativity and flexibility. During the firm’s partnership with WEAVE, we have created and funded a legal department to provide services to victims of domestic violence who need custody of their children or a divorce to escape their abuser. The firm has also raised money for WEAVE through a capital campaign to build a new Safehouse, the construction of transitional housing cottages, and the acquisition of a third emergency shelter. Ashley West chaired the board of directors for many years and chaired several events for WEAVE including the Runway Show and the first annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes. Please join Carter West in supporting WEAVE, www.weaveinc.org.

In keeping with the firm’s commitment to entrepreneurs, Carter West also supports the efforts of the Sacramento Entrepreneurship Academy. SEA is helping to develop the region’s next wave of successful entrepreneurs by providing hands-on, real world mentoring, training and a network of support from local business leaders. The SEA network consists of some of the most successful business leaders in the region–professionals who find joy in giving back to their communities by helping young entrepreneurs flourish. Ian Carter serves on the board of directors of SEA and enjoys judging the annual business plan competition.
